Ian is dedicated to:

•   Working with the community to promote fairness, equity, and progress

•   Making Penn Hills safe, accessible, and affordable for all residents

•   Bringing a new perspective to issues like litter, animal control, and hedge funds creating scarcity in our housing market 

Ian Cartwright is a project manager of twenty years with a background in strategic planning. As a project manager, his work requires him to work within a team to identify goals, outline a strategy, define tactics, control the budget, and to work closely with subject matter experts in effort to put that plan into practice. Ian firmly believes this approach can help bring greater structure, efficiency, and insight to the governance of Penn Hills.

Ian is a Democratic committee member for Ward 4 District 4 (Churchill Valley) and is the Treasurer of the Penn Hills Democratic Party. He is a steward at Churchill Valley Greenway for the Allegheny Land Trust, a member of the team that wrote the Greenway’s long term action plan, and a long-time volunteer for World Bicycle Relief. He contributes and volunteers locally to litter eradication and animal rescue efforts.

Ian is committed to working collaboratively, listening to the community, and championing policies that promote fairness, equity, and progress. Ian is a native of Detroit. He studied US History at Michigan State University and runs a small business consultancy out of his home in Penn Hills.  He lives with his wife and two rescue dogs.
