Kim is dedicated to:

  • Keeping our streets safe while providing opportunities for families and youth services

  • Promoting pride in the community and supporting local businesses

  • Collaborating with the school board directors, educators, and parents to achieve the best learning environments

Kim Refosco is a high school teacher and nonprofit community leader. She studied Political Science and Spanish at the University of Pittsburgh and earned her master’s in education from Franciscan University.

When not in the classroom, Kim serves as a community leader for several nonprofit outdoor organizations and partners with businesses to help remove the barriers that can prevent people from accessing and enjoying the outdoors. 

As a 20-year Penn Hills resident, raising her children in Penn Hills youth sports, library programs, youth groups, Kim was inspired to become more involved and was elected to the Penn Hills Democratic committee and serves as ward chair for Ward 7 district 6. Kim’s love for Penn Hills, combined with her background in education and nonprofits builds a solid foundation to serve on council.

Her objective as council is to foster and promote pride in the community by being inviting to new businesses and new home buyers, collaborating with the school board to achieve the best learning environments, keeping our streets safe while providing opportunities for our youth and seniors to stay engaged, and to stay diligent with our spending for utilities and infrastructure.
